Youth Philanthropy
In 2000, Every Voice in Action developed the Youth Crew as a means to “walk our talk” regarding meaningful youth voice, and our desire to have young people directly inform our grant-making. We believe full involvement of youth improves our grantmaking process – allowing us to make grants that better serve the needs of youth and the community. Since the first Crew, we have learned from our Youth Crew members that this program also benefits them, increasing their sense of empowerment, personal development, and leadership and interpersonal skills.
Over the years, we have widely expanded the reach and scope of our youth philanthropy efforts. We are in our seventh year of the Youth Crew, and have started operating an additional, community-based youth philanthropy program. Click the menu on the left to learn more about these models of youth philanthropy.
In addition to our two direct-service youth philanthropy programs, Every Voice in Action also works with select organizations in the community who wish to incorporate youth grantmaking into their curriculum. We provide funds for re-granting, curriculum development assistance, funding for consultant services, and general support in whatever form it may take. Examples of this include YWCA’s “It’s Time to Talk Tucson” Youth Program, the Women’s Foundation’s UNIDAS program, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Youth in Philanthropy Program.
